We are proud to announce that the UNESCO Chair in Comparative Study of World Religions at the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan (IIAU) has been awarded first prize in the 2025 HM King Abdullah II World Interfaith Harmony Week Prize. This global recognition celebrates the Chair’s outstanding contribution to fostering interfaith understanding and international solidarity.
Out of more than 1300 events held globally in celebration of UN World Interfaith Harmony Week, 79 reports were submitted for consideration. The judges evaluated submissions based on excellence, collaboration, impact, and alignment with the principles of the UN Resolution that established the Prize. Special attention was given to initiatives that respected religious diversity, demonstrated consistent engagement over time, and overcame challenges such as limited resources or complex social contexts.
The IIAU’s submission, titled “Human Fraternity and Interfaith Dialogue – A Factor of International Solidarity,” was commended for its thoughtful approach and meaningful contribution to global interfaith understanding. The judges praised the Chair’s commitment to fostering respectful dialogue without compromising the integrity of individual religious traditions.
We congratulate the team at IIAU and all contributors to this achievement. Their work serves as an inspiring example of how education and dialogue can build bridges across communities and cultures.
