The UNITWIN Programmes Team are calling for contributions to the MONDIACULT 2025 Digital Library from UNESCO Chairs and relevant stakeholders.

MONDIACULT 2025, the World Conference on Culture and Sustainable Development, will be held from 29 September – 1 October 2025 in Barcelona, Spain.  

In addition, UNESCO is establishing a digital library of diverse contributions on cultural policies and the impact of culture in all its dimensions, including the eight main themes of the MONDIACULT 2025 Conference. The digital library will compile a variety of knowledge products and expressions, alongside other relevant content.

The Call for Contributions in multiple formats (papers, videos, consultations, publications etc)​to the MONDIACULT 2025 Digital Library is now open. 

All UNESCO Chairs, regardless of thematic area of focus can contribute to the collection of diverse knowledge products on cultural policies, which may serve as a foundation for discussions during and after MONDIACULT 2025, structured around the following themes:

  1. Cultural rights
  2. Digital technologies in the culture sector
  3. Culture and education
  4. Economy of culture
  5. Culture and climate action
  6. Culture, heritage and crisis
  7. Culture and peace
  8. Artificial Intelligence and culture 

Although the call for contributions is focused on collecting policy-oriented knowledge products, it will invite stakeholders to submit various types of contributions:

  • Technical papers
  • Consultation reports
  • Creative writing
  • Short videos

The deadline for contributions is 10 June 2025. Guidelines and submission templates are available in English, French and Spanish.

The key outcome of the previous MONDIACULT Conference, held in Mexico in 2022, was the adoption of a Declaration by the Ministers of Culture, reaffirming culture as a human right and a public good, needed for sustainable development.
