Professor Roger K. Koudé has contributed an important chapter to a new publication on United Nations reform.
The collection is entitled L’ONU : RÉFORME INDISPENSABLE OU RÉFORME IMPOSSIBLE ? (UN Reform: Indispensable or impossible). It was developed following an International Conference on the topic, held in Tunisia in May 2024. The Conference was organised by the Research Laboratory for International Law, International Jurisdictions and Comparative Constitutional Law (Laboratoire de recherche en Droit International, Juridictions Internationales et Droit Constitutionnel Comparé) at the University of Carthage. Many experts from around the world came together to consider this important topic.
Professor K. Koudé opens his contribution, by calling for a renewed engagement with the question of reform, arguing that, in order to achieve a genuine reform of the Security Council that is legitimate, optimal, efficient, and effective, it is essential to redefine the very foundations of this recurring debate and to better clarify the stakes involved.
En effet, pour parvenir à une reforme veritable du conseil de sécurité qui soit légitime, optimale, efficient et efficace, il est indispensable de redéfinir les bases memes de ce débat récurrent et de mieux situer les enjeux qui s’y rapportent.
Professor K. Koudé is the Chairholder of the UNESCO Chair of Memory, Cultures and Interculturalism (Chaire Unesco « Mémoire, Cultures et Interculturalité ») at Lyon Catholic University, and is a member of the IDIU Network.
